Hi,
Looking to generate a screen which identifies clear range bound shares, eg. find stocks that are range bound say greater than 50p range over period of weeks/months. Recognise this is not a longterm "investing" approach or strategy but something of an aside.
Any ideas on how to achieve this using the Screening tools?
Hi finchy.
Not sure if this link will work, but here is a very simple screen you could start with.
http://www.stockopedia.com/screens/range-bound-shares-181585/
If not, easy enough to create. Set up a blank new template under [screens]. Look under [Price History] and select the period of share price movement you want to look at. Options from 1 week to 10 years. The example looks at the past month. Put in 2 conditions. [% price movement 1m] for both. Set to cover the range you want, say >3 and <3 which will give you all shares currently within +\- 3% over past month. Select matching shares.
This will only give shares that are currently within this band, i.e. It won't screen out shares that have moved outside the range and then come back in. You'll have to do a manual view of the charts to get these or possibly look into other variables such as low Beta or low RSI figures over the same periods if you want to get Stockopedia to do more of the work for you. Not sure if there is a price volatility measure per SE - I'll have a look and post if I find one.
Best,
Gus.
