I was hoping that Dominion would make an early +20% before the June spud. At one point it looked like it was going to make -20%!
I'll resist the temptation to pick Soco and stick with Dominion.

Sorry to be really boring - but I think I'll be going for SOCO International (LON:SIA) for each one of the next three months....starting with June, when the AGM will be accompanied by news of at least one well spudding and perhaps lots of other relevant stuff too.....it isn't at all difficult to conceive that the shares will be somewhere north of £19.20 by month end!
I also wonder whether we might (at last!) see some M&A action in the sector, given that most companies have newly-published financials and sterling is now weakening again....though I'd guess that companies with UK operations may be fairly bid-proof between now and the budget and perhaps the M&A theme is more one for Q3?

i'll go for Dana Petroleum Plc (LON:DNX) for the 20% up having been hit hard recently.
For the 20% down Rockhopper Exploration (LON:RKH) as profits are taken.

Second well in Kamchatka should be near TD now.
Up Soco
Down Aminex pls as I believe it will go bust with time. North Korea will never work, The US assets are hard to get excited about and Tanzania will not be fully exploited as their is not enough cash to do so. Eventually when the cash runs out assets will be liquidated from a weak position and therefore shareholders will get very little back or nothing IMO.
The current recession is weeding out all the businesses that are simply not good enough and have never been any good - Recessions are good, they help clean out the system..

Death of a thousand cuts recently on this one. Every day a drift lower. June may provide a couple of bits of news that could reverse this trend. The flow rates for OM-1 should come through with news of the Ninox farm-in (they have until 25th June). Then of course news re. the expansion of the gas plant on SS should come through at some point too...

I think the market is in a schizophrenic mood. It may either shoot up - taking lots of oversold oilers with it - or bomb unpleasantly.
If the former scenario evolves I can see many companies going up - including VOG (continued Logbaba news), RPT (oversold ++), SIA (for well known reasons), PCI (oversold and Ksar Hadada about to drill), IRG (Ksar Hadada), PANR (new well due to spud), PTR (continued good news towards its 4,000 bopd target by year end), COP (hugely underpriced) etc etc.
However, I sense the fear and I am not immune to it - even if several others are right and this is actually a great buying opportunity. I will therefore plump for GBP for the >20% comp as it has a chance of rising (particularly if it announces it is doing something with its cash), while the selfsame cash (10p per share against an SP of 8p) should protect against melt down.
As for the down comp, please may I pick FRR. Regrettably, I just cannot see it surviving - although I have been wrong on FRR at least twice before.

As per the first well, the result comes in before the start of the compo.
Given they again failed to get to the reservoir before hitting the depth permitted by their licence, the SP falls 45%. Wonder if it will recover any to give me a halfhearted chance for the 20% rise (albeit after a negative result).

">20% Up" Competition:
June was really red hot, in more ways than one!! The weather was hot and so was EO.!!!
No company came close to Catching EO. With an "API gravity" defying rise of 210%!! ;-)

">20% Down" Competition:
Oil majors do not usually get nominated in the monthly oil stock competition as they were
unlikely to move >20% up or down. June was an exception. The once untouchable BP was
humbled by events that even they, were finding it too hot to handle. Ten folks were on the
ball to win the >20% Down Competition with BP slimmed down by 35.5%.
