RFE: Fix Fund holdings order

Tuesday, May 10 2011 by

Strange but true: sorting a fantasy fund by Company Name order doesn't actually sort it by company name.

My suspicion is that when a company has an RNS, it actually treats "RNS" as the start of the company name. Take a look at my holdings for example (bit of an investing disaster so far), and the ordering it gives:
Afferro Mining 118.50 -2.5% 32,022 121.00 37,946.1 -1,052 -2.7% TRADE
Clearstream Technologies 52.00 · 168,391 59.00 87,563.3 -12,433 -12.4% TRADE
Games Workshop 422.50 -1.2% 22,077 450.00 93,275.3 -6,717 -6.7% TRADE
Howden Joinery 116.90 1.9% 89,666 110.80 104,819.6 +4,824 +4.8% TRADE
Intermediate Capital 329.00 0.9% 31,640 314.00 104,095.6 +4,101 +4.1% TRADE
Laura Ashley 20.75 2.5% 496,753 20.00 103,076.2 +3,080 +3.1% TRADE
Mears 250.75 3.3% 40,551 245.00 101,681.6 +1,686 +1.7% TRADE
RNS Pace Micro Technology 93.48 -38.9% 76,638 155.56 71,641.2 -48,354 -40.3% TRADE
RNS Shanta Gold 33.50 2.7% 312,915 31.75 104,826.5 +4,831 +4.8% TRADE
Robert Wiseman Dairies

I copied and pasted my fund. See how when I paste it, it has "RNS" at the beginning. I've noticed that with other fantasy funds, too.

BTW, when you buy a company in the fund, does it take into account a bid-offer spread and a notional stamp duty?

Hi there, re: the commission question, see this page: http://www.stockopedia.com/page/trading-help-and-faq/

Thanks for letting us know. For bugs like this (as opposed to how do I do this type queries), it's best use the Contact Us Form (the link is in the footer) as it keeps the bug feedback off the Discussion Boards once we squash them: http://www.stockopedia.com/page/contacting-stockopedia/

Cheers, M
