What is Stockopedia's moderation policy on newsflow spammers, ie posters who post the same post, often with negligeable investment content, on multiple internet forums in an affort to create publicity for a company who's shares they own ?
Hi Daytona, basically our rule is that we only judge people on their behaviour on Stockopedia. What they do elsewhere, either now or in the past, is not taken into consideration. So multiple duplicate posts across different threads on Stockopedia will likely lead to moderation and potentially a site ban but posting the same thing on Stockopedia as elsewhere is not something we can realistically monitor. We won't take action unless that content violates the Guidelines in its own right by being, say, unrelated to investing or is otherwise inappropriate - http://www.stockopedia.com/page/posting-guidelines/.
Of course, as this is also a user-moderated environment, a given thread owner is allowed to take a stricter view of this particular issue, provided that their approach is a reasonable one.
Thanks for the reply Murakami.
"posting the same thing on Stockopedia as elsewhere is not something we can realistically monitor"
sure it's not something you can manually do as a matter of course, but once SP has been notified about it takes about ten seconds to identify multiple/spam postings via Google.
"Of course, as this is also a user-moderated environment, a given thread owner is allowed to take a stricter view of this particular issue,"
and when the thread owner is one doing it, as is the case in the examples I've seen, how does SP's moderation work ?
