Scottish and Southern Energy (LON:SSE) is a vertically integrated utility business. It is focused on the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity, as well as energy trading, the storage and supply of gas, and electrical / environmental contracting. SSE is the UK's second largest generator of electricity, with 11.3k MW of generation capacity. In the UK, Scottish and Southern Energy supplies electricity and gas to around 9.35 million customers under the brands Scottish Hydro Electric, Southern Electric, SWALEC and Atlantic Electric and Gas. SEE has disclosed plans to invest c. £6.7bn in renewable and thermal energy and electricity networks between 2008 and 2013.
