Had some VOD shares and was concerned that they had over-reached themselves with the consequent drop in the share price. So started to look daily at the share trading. Lo and behold, after a few days of the odd 10-20K being sold, there was the a £62,000,000 sell-off by person unnamed. Immediately the share price dropped. Nothing wrong in that and so I have been left with the weakening share price. But the organisation which sold off this huge amount of stock- recoup by shorting? Follow the big punter? So is this an argument for Stockopedia to record exceptionally-high trading?
Hi
Only the institution (or person) that sold the shares knows whether or not they intend to start shorting.
But what you can do is look here to see what percentage of any listed companies shares are currently being shorted
