The first commercially available product, a mouse embryonic stem cell growth medium, has been exclusively licensed for manufacture and marketing to Chemicon, a division of Serologicals Inc. SC Licensing licenses its proprietary technologies such as Internal Ribosome Entry Site (IRES) and Stem Cell Selection for application in laboratory-based research and discovery. SC Services will provide cell production for research and high-throughput drug screening. SC Therapies first program is being undertaken by SCS's Japanese affiliate, which recently announced the exclusive licensing of human multipotent adipocyte-derived (hMads) for use in an experimental cell based therapy programme against Duchene's Muscular Dystrophy form the basis for a degenerative diseases focused pre-clincial programme. SCS plc is a global Group with operations in the UK, Australia and Japan. Each company is affiliated with academic stem cell centers of excellence in order to access and commercialize new IP developing in the field. These include the Institute of Stem Cell Research, Edinburgh, UK; RIKEN Centre for Development Biology, Japan and the Australian Stem Cell Centre, Melbourne, Australia.
