Can anyone shed any light on why this share is trading so cheaply?
What is cheap and what is expensive for a Kazakh-based, Malyasian headquartered cement company?

does anyone know why steppe has jumped 20% over today and yesterday?
no news, discussions or broker up dates. price has risen on quite small volume
funny company, really pretty fundemental but strange set up, listed in London, operations based in Kazakhstan, head office in malaysia customers are in US, trades in Asia. 67% owned by retail investors, and neither Graham or Paul have never written about it.
The price of Steppe Cement (LON:STCM) is always pretty volatile; there were a string of buy trades yesterday, although the volumes weren't adversely sizeable. Personally, I don't understand why it is so cheap with the aforementioned set up priced in. Although the cement market in Kazakhstan is contracting a little, production volumes for this company are up solidly and prices were reported as being up 34% at the halfway stage which surely translates into a good profit. It has also recently paid a HUGE dividend.
This is a larger holding in my broadly spread portfolio... which isn't a good sign for anyone else, as I am not that successful as an investor :-/ Probably not one for widows and orphans...
By the way, SunTZ1, you are probably getting thumbs-down feedback because your post contains so little information of any substance. What do you think to the company as an investment prospect yourself?
I've been looking at the chart since I posted my comment, its a big jump but still in its recent trading range. fingers crossed it keeps going up for you and you can buy those widows and orphans christmas presents this year
