As many of you know, we have been working on a new version of Stockopedia.

We've radically simplified the navigation of the site, and given all the topic, company and contributor pages, a standardised "activity stream" (i.e. applying the "active threads" concept site-wide). We have made the navigation much more topic based. There are specific landing pages for each major area of interest, e.g. Oil & Gas Producers .

It's a big change, but hopefully people can now filter out the content that they don't find valuable and focus on the content they want to read with much more ease.

We are planning to make the switch over very soon. Please let us know any bugs, usability issues or anything else you can think of... Please send any bugs by email to admin @ stockopedia.co.uk, but feel free to add other comments here.

Agreed, DJP. That's on the list for us to sort, as it's not much less readable on Blackberries than the old site at the moment.

Hi DB, we agree on this and are planning to integrate Favourites and Activity much more closely (and make it easier to access from a mobile). The idea is that your Favourites should be the default page you hit and then people can dip into the Activity Stream when they want (which hopefully will be very busy soon) to follow new areas of interest. Just debating the best way to do it but it's definitely in progress.

Has 'Shares in Issue' data been dropped in 3.0 (or was it dropped for 2.0?) as I cannot locate it anywhere?

SM - we have definitely simplified the layout on stock pages. We have lots more information that we could display but have erred on the side of minimalism. Let us know any essentials you want to see and we'll do what we can.

how is the calendar updated? Egdon have an EGM coming up on 4th April http://www.investegate.co.uk/Article.aspx?id=201003220700159099I

The calendar is from our data provider. Unfortunately there is no official source of company events as the LSE has declared it optional for companies to list announcement dates. Many still do, but it means many existing calendars are approximate at best and often based on approximations.

We can have the data updated for any oversights such as this, let us know if you spot any.

ok but there are going to be more than a few of these. Could you put a link at the top of Calender displaying boxes asking people to report one that should be added? Having a good Calendar will be REALLY useful

This new format is taking a bit of getting used to but have to say, jolly fine job. The site is coming along in leaps and bounds.

Love the new site...it is less "busy" and navigability is much better.

I think the video is excellent and would love to see more. suggest a "tutorial" drop down menu tab where lots of such "how to" videos may be easily found and accessed .

Something's not working quite right on the 'unread posts' feature.

(Apart from the fact that the unread posts bubble is red, which I still think is confusing - it looks like the number of 'negative' posts)

If there's a thread I follow, then I get what I expect, which is, say, a blue bubble with 25 next to it and a red one with 2 next to it. This means that there are 2 new posts - great.

However, if I've never read a thread, then all I see is a blue bubble with, say, 30 next to it. What I would expect is to see a blue 30 and a red 30 - in other words, "This thread has 30 posts, of which 30 are unread"

Or maybe it is working, but it's not intuitive...

Does a blue bubble with 25 next to it and a red one with 2 next to it signify "25 posts, of which 2 are unread" or does it actually signify "27 posts, of which 2 are unread"?

I'd expect the latter - and I guess the former may lead to the strange behaviour I'm seeing? (If this makes no sense, then it's not me, it's the Leffe...)

The numbers are supposed to show you the total replies, and the new replies since your last visit. (So 25 total, of which 2 are new in the example above) If it's confusing, then it's not quite working right - but the sums are the same as they always have been.

The red coloration has caused a few issues, so we may look into changing it - and if it's causing confusion with the thumbs then we obviously apologise!!!

Obviously we've tried to get a balance right between icons and text. We've felt that too much text gets in the way a bit, but too many icons feels like clutter.

Ok - I think something's not working quite right then, because threads I haven't read should show the same number of blue and red, which they don't at the moment - I only see blue.

thats correct - but you can also see a clear New, can you not? which is a hint that you haven't read any of it!

I've come across a problem with the Sector pages, which I feel has been over-simplified from v.2.

For example, if I wish to find out which companies are in a sector (lets say, Industrial Transportation) I used to drill-down through the sectors and sub-sectors to find the companies that made up a handy total alongside the (sub)sector.

Now when I attempt this, I go through Companies >> Sector A-Z >> Industrial Transportation (of which I am told there are '31' companies)

It is the names of the 31 companies that I wish to see, but clicking the link takes me to activity in any companies that are classified in this sector (and in this instance only displays perhaps 4 stocks). Can we go back to a version of the previous system whereby we have the opportunity to see the constituents of a sector from this activity page? Or is this just displayed somewhere else now?

And one other observation on the formatting - you've obviously gone for a minimal, clean look for the individual stock pages with the main focus on Activity in the largest box. This works reasonably well on stock with Activity, but for 95% (say) of stocks that has no Activity, the page looks ugly and incomplete (here's an example). I don't know the best answer here, as you've clearly designed the page with the graph and recent RNS and other populated boxes down the right-hand side. But shoudl a stock not have Activity, could these auto-populate the centre instead or am I talking about a re-design?! :o)

Aaand another thing! You've brought back the intuitive dropdown menu to the search box (thank you very much!) that will autopopulate with matches as you type a name in. However, when selecting from the list with a mouse click or down arrow + Enter, even if only one match is found, we are not taken to that page and still need to click the search button. When selecting from the dropdown could it trip through to the chosen page?

And breathe! Sorry, got carried away there, but would welcome your thoughts on the above suggestions.

But could you please go straight to the constituents from the sector tree, not default to the activity, please? The new release feels more limited in some ways as practically anything you do gives you the activity page now so the appearence on a casual browse is samey. It's good to promote the market data side of the site as well.

The Feedback button. Obviously this depends on on screen / window sizing, but for my common settings (1280 x 1024, full screen window, firefox, bookmarks menu on LHS), it's in a seriously irritating place, obscuring the most recent part of the price graph.

Does this need to be quite so prominent anymore? wouldn't a nice red link at the very top, next to the green "about" be suitable?

Just regarding the autocomplete on search... yes - I think it should behave like Google Finance's autocomplete which I think is the best there is.
e.g. http://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSE%3AGKO
It should work on select or click without requiring another keystroke. It's on the list and we'll get it implemented quickly.

Thanks for the reply. I finally found the link to Constituents, but agree with doverbeach that there is too much focus on Activity and not enough on the data you already possess. Can the system remember our preferred view?
