Stockopedia Usage Question

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a way to view a stocks historical market cap on Stockopedia, preferably as a chart? I've looked through the guides and dug around the site tools etc, but unless I'm going blind I can't see a way, short of manually opening each and every previous stock report for the stock.

Hi Joe,

I suppose you could multiply the price by the number of shares. This would only change if there was a new issue or a buy-back. A bit long winded, but do-able.

Some others who have been on here longer may know a better way.

Just for my benefit, how were you thinking of using it?

Hi joe4560.

It’s not ideal, but you can upload a monthly stock report chart header sheet for about the last three years and take the market cap figure from each report. If you pull up a current individual stock report, e.g. Boohoo.Com (LON:BOO) , then click on the down arrow to the right of the print icon on the top right corner this will offer you about 36 individual cover sheets for the stock. If you have the patience, you can then take the 36 data points and compile a chart from that.

Next time you ask a question I would like to suggest that you make the heading more in line with the content of your post. You will get better answers that way.
For the vast majority of the time, the market cap graph will precisely mirror the share price graph. The only time that this does not apply is if new shares have been issued. You can check whether or not new shares have been issued in two ways:
1) Stockopedia Stock report , balance sheet bottom row shows shares outstanding OR
2) FE investigate (free service) shows all regulated news statements. Search by company and read the latest news to see if they have issued any new shares recently.
Anyway, I would like to wish you good luck with your investments. However, the more work you do on it, the less luck you will need.
