Half way through January 2011, and most of my best stocks are ones that I've been with throughout much of 2010.
XP Power (LON:XPP) is up 189% on a year ago and still not looking particularly expensive for a company in the electronic components field, and with a nice trading statement earlier this week.
Kofax (LON:KFX) - streamlining information. 80% up on a year ago. Results due Feb 7th.
Dialight (LON:DIA) - specialises in LED lighting systems, a field offering phenomenal growth during this next five years. Share price 148% up on a year ago. I still hold but have reduced my stake. I expect them to do very well for themselves but might eventually get left behind once their bigger rivals are in full swing.
Ocean Wilsons Hldgs (LON:OCN) . Longest of my longterm favourites (though as an active trader I do step aside when it sags). Up 62% on a year ago. One I am happy to hold whenever it's above its 200ma. Activities include the biggest tugboat fleet in south America, shifting goods in and out of numerous ports. Also the ports themselves and associated transport.
Origo Partners (LON:OPP) is 177% up on a year ago. Invests in a portfolio of smaller companies in China and India.
Software Radio Technology (LON:SRT) . Up 190% in this last year . Levelled off a bit lately. Trimmed my holding and waiting to see where next. Developer of identification and tracking systems for marine vessels.
In this past week or so I have mostly been exploiting downbet opportunities - taking brief positions (between an hour and 2-3 days) in stocks that included PDX, PRTY. All closed. Still looking around for others. Some of my upbets have slipped back and encountered stoploss settings, closing themselves. OXIG (closed Wed 19) and KFX (closed Fri 21) were amongst them but I've reopened (smaller) upbets on both. I am generally working with quite tight stoploss settings at present. I am roughly 55% invested, 45% cash, but quite happy to move more towards cash. Software Radio Technology (LON:SRT) I am still holding, and the boss is doing a live webcast presentation this coming Friday, for investors to participate in.
