Stocks with low free-float

All,

Does anyone have any rules/thoughts on investing in stocks where the free-float is particularly small (<25%). I'm assuming this would depend largely on the track record of the company/management/family owner but wanted to get your thoughts/experiences.

I avoid anything sub 40% free float do a search on the discussion board for Fusionex for reasons why

I would avoid them in general. I want to be able to sell quickly when the market turns so I’m avoiding very small caps and low free floats.
It would have to be a business where I had a lot of conviction and trust in the majority owners and was looking to hold very long term.
