Formed from a merger in 2007 of Taylor Woodrow and George Wimpey, its primary business is house building in the UK as well as North America and Spain/Gibraltar. Its UK brands are George Wimpey, Laing Home, Bryant Homes and G2 and its products range from one bedroom apartments to large family homes.
Company History
- 1921 - 16-year old Frank Taylor borrows £100 to build 2 houses in Blackpool. Too young to form his own company, his uncle Jack Woodrow lent his name to the business and 'Taylor Woodrow' was born. Frank Taylor made 100% profit on this first venture.
- On 3rd July 2007, Taylor Woodrow plc and George Wimpey plc merged together to form Taylor Wimpey plc

In North America, our home building business operates under the Taylor Morrison and Monarch brands. Combining the rich histories of Taylor Woodrow and Morrison Homes, Taylor Morrison is now one of the largest home builders in the United States. More than 280 Taylor Morrison communities are currently under construction in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada and Texas. Taylor Morrison also operates one of Canada's oldest and largest real estate companies, Monarch, which builds high-rise condominiums in premier locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area and master-planned single-family communities across Ontario. Taylor Woodrow de Espana is building new homes in Spain at three destinations, Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol and in the Balearic island of Mallorca. In Gibraltar we are building a selection of new homes which includes the Tradewinds development at Marina Bay.
