Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of the Week Ahead.
There’s a definite risk-on mood in the markets now, with the FTSE pushing back within shouting distance of its all-time highs.
The S&P 500 is also making an approach:
President Trump continues to make major headlines, on Friday saying that the US would unilaterally impose new tariffs on their trading partners “over the next two to three weeks”. He said “it’s not possible to meet the number of people that want to see us”, i.e. that there isn’t time to strike deals with all of the countries that trade with the US. It remains to be seen what level these new tariffs might be.
The economic calendar looks quiet next week, without any central bank decisions or other critical events in the schedule.
Company news is likely to be busy: in addition to the results and trading updates shown below, there is a very large number of scheduled AGMs.
