Have to say I'm often mystified as to why a 'thumbs down' has been applied to seemingly innocuous contributions. It strikes me as though a lot of thumbs downers are more intent on poking the poster in the eye rather than registering disagreement with what has been written.
I don't think the thumbs down facility is necessarily a bad thing but I think it would be a whole lot more transparent if those voting had their identity revealed somehow...and the same should go for thumbs up people too.
If such a system were to be implemented, there would be far less abuse of the privelege to vote one way or the other.
