Yes, I opened an account with a nominal amount, partly in order to get the free share on offer and partly purely out of curiosity.
Pros:
- commission free trading, which makes trading in very small quantities viable.
- Appear to be fully FCS compliant
- Were offering a free share incentive for joining and referrals (not sure if that is still the case or not).
Cons:
- No AIM, or main market very small cap (e.g. no UPGS, no CTO).
- All trading at bid/offer, no at quote, so not economic for larger sizes.
- Initially I could buy very small sizes (e.g. 1 share), but the minimum size seemed to increase after a week or so.
Unknown:
- Haven't yet tried to withdraw my money!
Realistically, I wouldn't consider them for a serious account (I currently use AJ Bell, IG and iWeb), but they may be suitable as a starter account for very small amounts.
is there any good alternative to IG for CFDs and spread betting
love their charting software but find their fees really eat into my profits
