Trans-Siberian Gold Rank 99 and getting the best nuggets in the mining sector

This has been an excellent performance over the last year and still has good potential for the upside in my view. It's health trend is 9 and the profit has turned from a negative 0.13M in 2014 to estimated +10M 2015 and 17.9M in 2016.
They also have 7.63M in cash, which makes a change.

With the stock rank of 100 ,Value is 93, Quality 86 and Momentum 90,this should be an excellent share to consider.
I would think with the oil prices dropping drastically the fuel saving in excavating the many tons of earth with huge trucks and crushing machinery should also help with profits.
The screen is full of green goodies and I am really surprised that nobody else has made any comments on this share before. It is also firmly on the green in the bubble charts.

It's not just this share that has the potential upside,, ranking at 99 now, but the whole mining sector has impressive results over the last month about one third of the mining sector has increased by 10% or more.That is more than 70 out of almost 200. Certainly worth a further look and investigate further. !5 shares have increased by at least 50% over a month.

A couple of well known shares RIO and BLT have gone up on 22/2/16 by 8.43% and 8.55%.

Bad news for BLT shareholders today 23/2 from Bloomberg stating dividends to be cut from 62c to16c and a drop in share price down -6.1%. Rio was also down -3.1%.
With 197 mining shares to choose from you have to be careful with the bid offer spreads as well as huge fluctuations in share price movements.
That said some have been paying good dividends.

TSG rank 99 up today 8.4% to a share price of 42p.
BLT rank 43 still dropping down -8.38% today as has RIO rank 45 down -5.75%.
Top 10 %age increases in mining stocks today brings another good nugget with a turn round from a loss to a profit situation with GDP. Interim results yesterday.

Interim results for GDP yesterday shows from a loss -£377k in the 6 mths 2014 to a profit of £395K for the 6 mths end 31/12 15, that is a huge change in reducing the loss to zero and in addition now in £395K in profit! One to watch with a good ranking of 84

It is worth noting that today the FTSE closed down 1.73%

Fortunate enough to be in a few of these, although mostly clawing back losses from longer term trend. Presumably these are shown as offer to bid prices - experience shows some of the tiddler stocks are very illiquid and have wide trading spreads.

Another one for the list, Lonmin (LON:LMI), is a proxy for platinum/SA economy generally. Benefiting from devaluation of the Rand helping opex costs and output priced in US$. Range from 4/1 to 24/2 was a modest one of about 70p to 80p but did slump down to about 38.5p on or around Jan 18th so a decent recovery from here

Hi Gus, prices shown are mid prices as shown in Stockopedia. Nice and easy to add to the watch list. You are right with the tiddler stocks where the spreads are huge.
Lonmin has done extremely well over the last month with a reasonable spread, which is good.
The reason for putting the share price in from 4/1 to 24th Feb is it makes it really easy to see what is happening over time as we go forward in time.
For example FRES has hit 4 digits today @ 1000p and your Lonmin @ 93.5p still going up nicely, and PAF now @ 13.75p.
The whole of the mining sector is still strong as against the banking sector which has been hammered in the last few weeks.
At the end of next month say, you can see easily what has happened. Make sure stops are set and exit positions where appropriate and replace with new positions.

ZBO is a good example of a tiddler up 66.7% today mid price 1.25P but the spread difference is 1.5p bid and offer 1p. this share has been driver strongly down but has only just started to go up, By the end of next month things may change.

Hi Lightning,

Trawling through a few of the threads for my stocks and found this link. Interesting to re-visit five months further on.

Trans-Siberian Gold (LON:TSG) hasn't really kicked on although the stock ranks are still very strong, so hopeful of a revaluation still to come. Some of my other holdings have had a really good run such as Glencore (LON:GLEN) (now 185p), £CEY (158p), Fresnillo (LON:FRES) (1,860p) and Lonmin (LON:LMI) (238p) . Even some of my large cap resource stocks such as Anglo American (LON:AAL) , Rio Tinto (LON:RIO) and £BLT are now back in the blue after years of red ink and some timely averaging down. Together with the O&G sector, YTD resource companies seem to have been performing very well.

Still cautious on the medium term outlook for the global economy so may look to top slice some of the gains but a healthier looking portfolio than it was in mid February.

Is this just an undiscovered gem or are there serious problems/risks with this company? Such a low forward looking p/e.

Prompted by today's RNSs about the major shareholders, I had a closer look at the share ownership of Trans-Siberian Gold (LON:TSG). I think an obvious peculiarity of the company is that between them, UFG (a Russian investment fund) and Anglogold Ashanti Holdings used to hold about 86% of the company's shares and the non exec Chairman (on a relatively small board) is a UFG executive.

After the sales over the past few days it now looks as though AAH have gone down from about 35% to more or less zero leaving UFG with pretty much a controlling stake of about 80% to do virtually as they please (tho' not quite the 90% needed to squeeze out minority shareholders with an enforced purchase).

The company's been on AIM since 2003 so it's well established but as a PI you might feel a bit like one of General Custer's troops at the Little Big Horn if UFG decided to play hardball!
