Executive Summary

Vedanta Resources (LON:VED) is a major metals and mining group founded by Anil Agarwal in 1976. It is headquartered in London, having listed on the LSE in 2003, but its main operations are located in India, where it is the largest non-ferrous metals and mining company. It has significant Indian market share in aluminium, copper, zinc and iron-ore (having acquired Sesa Goa in 2007). There are also substantial copper operations in Zambia (Konkola Copper Mines) and two copper mines in Australia (Copper Mines of Tasmania Pty Limited). It is also developing a commercial power generation business. VED employs over 30,000 people, including over 8,000 professionals.
