Executive Summary
ViaLogy Plc (LON:VIA) was established in 1999 as a spin-off of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratories operated by the California Institute of Technology focused on exploring applications of Quantum Resonance Interferometry. ViaLogy was listed on AIM in October 2006. Today, ViaLogy provides reservoir characterization, geophysical imaging and hydrocarbon sizing services through its QuantumRD platform to global oil and gas customers based on proprietary, patented active signal processing technology. It assists clients in de-risking prospects to generate drilling target and enhance recovery.
Company History
ViaLogy was founded in 1999 as a spin-off of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratories operated by the California Institute of Technology. The lynchpin of its activities was the furtherance of a unique technology, Quantum Resonance Interferometry (QRI™), originally developed to detect, enhance and characterize weak signals in high background noise and interference environments.
As the result of a merger with one of its major shareholders, Original Investments PLC, in October 2006 ViaLogy became a publicly quoted company on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the London Stock Exchange in England. The merger was arranged by the international private investor and financial author Jim Slater (www.jimslater.org.uk). Mr Slater had been a keen supporter of the ViaLogy technology for several years, previous Chairman of the Board, and his investment interests arranged the majority of the seed financing for its research and development stages. Although he is no longer on the board of the company, Mr. Slater maintains an active interest in ViaLogy and makes himself available for consultation on the company's financial strategy.
Today, ViaLogy is focused on bringing to clients in the upstream oil and natural gas sector its analytical service offering, QuantumRD®. Another key company technology, Sensor Policy Manager™ integrates sensors in large-scale military base-security and force protection applications within the emerging Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) market.
Business Model
QuantumRD®, a derivative application of the core weak signal detection technology, was launched to enhance the petroleum industry's ability to accurately locate, characterize and size hydrocarbon deposits. ViaLogy is collaborating with US independents drilling between 3000 feet to 18,000 feet depths and producing from a broad range of formations in order to definitively establish our technology as an industry standard. QuantumRD is an in-house software platform for location and prediction of hydrocarbon reservoirs. It provides subsurface characterization based on the systematic fusion and analysis of…
