Mindful Money's 'Social Finance: the New Influentials' report has set the blogosphere alight. At time of writing 9,273 copies of the report had been downloaded in just 3 days. The research, which for the first time maps a hugely significant network of financial websites - mostly outside of the mainstream media, has been hailed in some quarters, criticised in others and dissected by all. As with any list, there have been the inevitable suggestions of who should have been included and who shouldn't, with some websites even offering their own alternative version. Finally many of those included have expressed their thanks. If you are reading this, you are welcome.

Here is a selection of those views:

Naked Capitalism

Naked Capitalism, provoking 66 comments on its message board and counting, says: "Given how many of these top blogs are critical of the status quo, this map may be a hopeful sign that the blogosphere is beginning to become an important channel of discourse outside the reach of the PR machinery of major corporations and government entities."

The Epicurian Dealmaker is puzzled with his inclusion - though grateful none-the-less - mainly because he doesn't give anything resembling 'actionable investment' advice. We would argue the site sets things in that all important context. He writes: "What diligent consumers of this site will appreciate immediately, is that I have never offered one ounce of actionable investment advice among the billions of words I have tortured into existence here since the beginning of 2007. Unless professional investors count verbal disembowelment of Goldman Sachs executives, merciless ridicule of excessively short, excessively rich private equity plutocrats, or scathing satire of flag-waving, chest-thumping idiocrats among the hedge fund community as timely investment advice."

Junior Deputy Accountant

Junior Deputy Accountant is overjoyed at this emerging alternative to the mainstream media. She writes: "The mainstream media has failed and unless you're using the Jim Cramer contrarian investment strategy, you're going to take a beating if you actually listen to just about anything that comes from that corner."

Diary of a Wimpy Investor

Diary of a wimpy investor creates a mini list from Mindful Money's maxi list of those sites which are actionable i.e. that might give you a reason to invest or trade.
