As an absolute novice, can someone please explain to me why the government is *apparently* looking to tax investors more, when the country and stocks are desperate for investment.

Ive no idea if I relate to Keir's terms of a working man, but I do work shift work for 40hrs a week and enjoy partaking in my stocks and shares ISA.

Im not posting this to be anti-labour, im asking a genuine question about the reason for the tax. A logical reason apart from generating more cash.

Now it's possible they may just lower the Stocks and share ISA to 10k a year, and tax after that. However, we all know how much this country is failing in the stock market compared to the US and taxing further investment or those with the money needed to invest further, doesn't make sense to me.

Can anyone help me understand this alleged incoming tax?
