Roll Up, Roll Up.. Stockpickers!
Xmas is fast approaching, & its time to dust off the magic wands again - in order to pitch our collective wisdom against the capital markets.
Sure 2022 was dreadful, with only 45 of our 230 tips ending the year in the green - posting an average loss of -28.0% (see charts).
Yet equally, the #aim , #nasdaq & #sp500 indices didn’t fare much better either. Falling -31.5%, 29.7% & -16.9% respectively, with the FTSE100 being one of the few in positive territory (+1.25%) thanks to Sterling weakness and its exposure to energy, O&G and resources.
Indeed 5 of our top 10 selections came from these sectors (#1 Premier African Minerals) with the bottom 10 stuffed with 2020/21 covid/crypto winners (worst Seraphine & Argo Blockchain). The most popular Supple@me fell -58%.
Luckily though that’s all behind us now. The slate is clean, its time to see whether we can (hopefully) do a little better in 2023.
So if anyone wishes to send me their best UK stock idea for next year (ONLY 1 per person), then I will collate them & publish the final list prior to Xmas. The hard cut off date for submissions is Monday 19th December.
