Can anybody explain how to use P/S ratio. I understand the concept of P/E/G ratio but i'm not sure how to use P/S as a ratio for valuation? Any further insight welcome .

Just wondering of people's approach to pension deficit's as I seem to like many business's but they often have large Pension deficits that put me off. Is there a good metric to use to enable decicsion making ?

As this is my first year in finance and investing , I just thought I'd post a discussion on here regarding something I know little about. The math behind a multi bagger... Now I've heard people discuss a twenty bagger say (£1000 x 20 or 2000% ish) = 20 grand. However Ive also seen the argument of £1,000 x 10 bags = £10,000 + another…

Just a thought if any one has an idea of how to interpret or gauge wether a company has a pricing or purchasing power? If its detectable via financial statements?

Anybody have any thoughts or stocks on great companies in poor no growth industries? Or thoughts on what currently is a no growth /slow growth industry or what could soon will be?

Can you compare the growth in intangible assets to amortisation year on year?

Evening Blissgull, thanks for the response. My theory being is that a growing business( also a good one) in a poor or declining industry will soon pick up the market share of all of the poorer business struggling to compete, who will probably go out of business before long, their for leaving the good business with total domination.

Thanks all of you for the response all very informative. Vegpatch, so regarding margins are you saying a company with higher op margin say (20%) to say (5% net margin ) would be highly susceptible or the other way round?

Thanks for you in-depth responce Gus, I feel I'm leaning to more stocks with a diversified retail and or residential portfolio. I think i'll take my time because from what I can tell for one reason or another estimates seem to be very iffy for 2016 in this sector.

Ill take a look thanks, I would assume non performing assets, occupancy rates would be key factor in these businesses ?
