About Me:

My Stockopedia screen name is a reference to the 1969 Monty Python sketch about a disillusioned charted accountant who wanted to become a lion tamer. I suspect many of us have had moments like this. Such moments were my motivation to take control and retire early. This is something I was able to do in 2016, when I quit my job. Since then I've been living from the proceeds of my investments, most of which are stock based.

Investment Strategy
I trade... monthly
I tend to buy... after much research
I hold for... years
I invest with... <£1m
Diversification is ... essential to reduce risk
When I walk down the street, my aim is to avoid stepping in any dog-mess. My investing strategy is the same.

XP Power (LON:XPP)This part of the update... The book to bill ratio, which tracks the relationship between orders received and completed sales, and which is an indicator of future revenue growth, was 1.16 for the first quarter (2018: 1.10 times) ...suggested to me that the the reduction in first quarter like-for-like, constant-currency drop might be just noise that could well be corrected by the end…

Given Mike Ashley's attempted opportunistic take over strategy with Debenhams (a failed strategy in this case), and today I see also Findel, I wonder if there is a read across to other companies in which Mike Ashley has a stake (I can think of GMD but there must be others?)…

Sosandar (LON:SOS) HI PJ0077 Should we expect the growth to be straight line throughout the year? From today's RNS (quoted out of context, of course!) ".... the peak seasonal months of April-June" Therefore my assumption is the coming quarter is the one that will potentially shift the dial and matters most. I could be wrong again of course.

Edit: This is NOT aimed at gbjbaanb is particular, this is a general point. I am currently agnostic about if non-subscribers should be allowed access to this column, but feel it is very much missing the point for potential subscribers to judge the merits of a subscription only on the merits of this column. £ Off topic post. I am really enjoying the measured and rational conversations here today, even although they are mainly on shares not currently on my watch list. It is a pleasure to be here again (after the friction in the comments section in some previous weeks). Thanks guys.
