Thanks for all the replies. My own observations are: It would be nice for Stockopaedia to offer L1 live pricing on watchlists as it is a big omission. Further, their charting software is woeful compared to the likes of or Stockcharts .com who offer things like scanning for breakouts after consolidation. it is true that stop losses can take you out. I would add that this does vary with the general volatility of the share. Less liquid shares seem to be more prone to this . Having said that using stop losses for me has benefited more times than not.

The euro is not all to blame for Italian woes. Infact when Italy initially entered the euro it did very well as it does export a lot more than it imports.
