Investor Weekender...everything And Anything You Want !!

I am planning something really big for investors over the long weekend of Friday 7th November through to Sunday 9th November... so please keep it completely free or reconsider your plans as the biggest investor event ever in the UK is going to take place and you will all be invited to attend.

Furthermore to be fair to everyone it will be in the very centre of the UK just one hour drive from Birmingham and 90 minutes by train from London...and as a bonus I have arranged a fabulous group deal for those who want to travel by train There will be a hundred low cost hotel packages and the conference centre will be all ours for three whole days. I appreciate that it is bad form to reply to your own posting but in four days I had rather expected there to be a few replies by now !!?

Just to add a bit more detail It will be held at the Derby Conference Centre and I have block booked the venue for three days. I am busily signing up leading presenters for each session over the three days and I am delighted to report that Lord John Lee will be joining us for all three days and a number of Fund managers have agreed to do presentations. There will also be a room totally dedicated to investment blogs and the first ever 'Meet the blogger' introduction area so I am sure it will interest many of you here and all bloggers are welcome to contact me and book their pitch.

If you are invested in a company near Derby and you want them to present to hundreds of investors then you may wish to let them know about the forthcoming plans and ask a director to contact me as there will be limited numbers of company slots to present available? I would particularly like to see companies that can actually show us something visually as we do have a wonderful lecture theatre to make full use of during the three days.

This event is only just in the incubation stage but it would be really good to have lots of input on exactly what investors would like to see and who they would like to meet (whether presenters, company directors, investment aids demonstrators or simply mutual investors and bloggers) over the course of the weekend ?

It would be good to have ideas, learn about what you think works well from other events you have attended and also get an idea of what you think will go down well for social activities in the evenings ( An investor poker tournament, table tennis tournament and stand up comedy show have already been suggested )

I can certainly immediately confirm that this will not be a commercial sales event with tens and tens of stands erected to allow 'trading platforms and trader type' companies to present their wares and unknown entities trying to sell plots of farmland or woodland etc. I will be covering any losses for this event in the first year to get it off the ground and will not be chasing the easy money earned from the masses of low quality offerings paying thousands of pounds to get the chance to sell to you all at investors shows !

The emphasis will be on quality and variety rather than quantity. The theme will be very much directed to longer term investment and a celebration of how the online world has helped private investors join together in common interest groups and has assisted and improved their long term investment plans !

Come on give me your views and ideas ? Many of you have been to Investor shows...What do you like and dislike ? What has never been covered before at any show ?

Just to update this thread and advise that the Mello 2014 event is now fully launched and will be from noon on Thursday 6th November right the way through to the evening of Saturday 8th November and we have a huge amount of investment and networking events going on all the way through...see www.mello2014.com

I do hope to see as many of you there as possible and Paul Scott will also be in the Derby Conference Centre with us for the whole three days and running through his blog as it happens live from the DCC.

We will have some great keynote speakers and even a number of celebrities and a live session of our own version of the Dragons Den which will be known as the Mello Lair. There will certainly be something to interest everyone...checkout the website www.mello2014.com

For those of you who are keen to know which companies will be attending the Mello2014 event there are now about 33 of the companies featured in the companies presenting section or listed as a news item on the website

We are now only allowing companies to come to the event and exhibit or present for one day only as 74% of the delegates/investors attending Mello2014 are actually staying in Derby for all three days of the conference and so I think it is preferable to see the maximum number of companies that we can fit into the exhibition space we have available to us...it now looks like we will have 50 companies in total.

The most popular day is the middle day which is being attended by a large number of institutional investors and the Saturday has the highest number of one day tickets sold as ShareSoc are holding their Agm at the event and investors who work during the week take the opportunity to come at the weekend.

We have only about 70 discounted tickets left and Friday is running out so go to the ShareSoc website www.sharesoc.org and register as a member to obtain access to half price tickets.

There is still more to add especially regarding panel sessions but that is at least 85% of the content and details you need to decide which day you may want to select if you cannot join us for all three days. I am totally biased but this three day event is an investor feast that may never be repeated and so I really do think you should grasp the chance to join us in Derby and enjoy every minute of it from morning to midnight as networking will be a huge part of this event.

You can mix with seasoned investors, directors and even top professional fund managers and we never stop learning from each other. If any of you want half price tickets there are 27 left if you use the MELLO-DISCOUNT code in the box where required once you order your tickets.
