Solomon Gold has been making good progress in proving up a gold resource in the South West Pacific and at its newly acquired Australian assets. Po Valley Energy, the Mediterranean-focused oil and gas producer, has recently pulled back on technical production issues, however things look set to increase back to higher production levels in Northern Italy. London Mining is one of few iron ore plays listed in London, and recently added Columbian coking coal assets to its portfolio. U.S. Oil and Gas, a newcomer, is currently listed on PLUS markets with ambitions to come to AIM. The company is about to embark on a high impact drilling campaign in Nevada.

The forum will be hosted at the Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel, and will commence at 6.00pm. Each company has approximately 30 minutes to give a short presentation and for Q&A. Following the presentations will be a complimentary bar and an assortment of the finest hot & cold canapés, giving you the opportunity to speak with the directors and other investors.

Solomon Gold holds several tenement positions in the Solomon Islands, for minerals exploration, focusing on copper and gold rich porphyry systems and high grade epithermal gold mineralisation. In relation to its main tenement holdings on the island of Guadalcanal, the Company enjoys a Joint Venture with Newmont Ventures providing for Newmont to earn a 70% interest by expending US$12m over 5 years. Solomon Gold is the current manager. On 2 December 2009, the Company announced the acquisition of two Queensland (Australia) based gold exploration companies, Acapulco Mining Pty Ltd and Central Minerals Pty Ltd.

If anyone does go along to the Solomon Gold presentation, it could be informative to ask Mr Mather about the drilling results obtained at Sutakiki in SK11 back in 2007. The RNS which announced those results described it as a "Spectacular high grade gold discovery" see www.investegate.co.uk/Article.aspx?id=200711051131070179H

The timing of the discovery was extra-ordinarily fortuitous, coming after a run of poor drilling results and just before a substantial fund raising which might have struggled otherwise.

Unfortunately all of the follow on drilling which was conducted around SK11 in the aftermath of the fund raising yielded disappointing results which showed SK11 to have been an extremely localised anomaly. Still prospecting is a risky business and these things happen.

The really unfortunate thing was that, as I remember it, the results of the follow up drilling were delayed for a considerable period because of hold-ups at the assay labs. And then there was a delay in issuing an RNS. Somehow Mr Mather's interview with an Australian Mining Journal, in which he was reported as saying that SK11 had proved to be an anomaly and that the area around it was now deemed a failure came out in Aus long* before UK investors were given the same information. That was unfortunate. But mistakes do happen in this business.

What matters is whether SOLG and Mr Mather have learned from these mistakes/mishaps and taken steps to avoid them in future. Investors too of course.

* in this case long before means some weeks if I recall correctly
