Most readers will be aware of the massive increase in the use electronic mapping courtesy of Google Maps, TomTom and the like. Such players have driven a huge expansion in the use of electronic ‘location based data’ to the extent that this business sector is now worth in excess of £1.5 billion per annum. A key niche player in this sector is 1Spatial which joined AIM in October 2010 via a reverse takeover of the cash shell, IQ Holdings. I met with Chief Executive, Nic Snape, and Sales Director, Duncan Guthrie, recently on the day of the Group’s interim results - the first issued by 1Spatial as a listed company. From my conversation with the directors, it is clear that there are some very exciting opportunities in prospect for 1Spatial.
