Contrarian 200 Qualifying

In the StockRank Styles framework, Contrarians is the classification given to shares with the strongest combined exposure to Quality and Value (but are suffering from poor Momentum). They typically have the characteristics of shares that have fallen out of favour and may have hit setbacks or problems. Their momentum is likely to be very poor, but the combination of high quality at what could be a cheap price is exactly what contrarian value investors look for. Contrarian stocks need watching carefully for any decline in quality which might ultimately turn them into Value Traps. As Warren Buffett once said: “Whether we're talking about socks or stocks, I like buying quality merchandise when it is marked down.”
