BUZZ-European Electricals: Barclays sees slower start to 2021

Wed 7th April, 2021 9:30am
** Barclays sees a slower start to the year for the European
electricals sector
** Rising input costs mean the sector could still see
further headwinds in the coming quarters before price actions
start to take effect, it says
** The brokerage expects Q1 to confirm the ongoing
broad-based short cycle recovery from the trough seen in Q1 2020
in China
    ** Schneider Electric SCHN.PA and Legrand LEGD.PA , both
"overweight"-rated, are the broker's preferred names due to
their solid margin and cash generation profiles
** Moreover, both companies are exposed to the attractive
end-markets of residential buildings and data centres, with
strong presence in the U.S. where early signs of green shoots
are emerging in non-residential markets, it adds
** Barclays keeps "equal-weight" on Siemens SIEGn.DE and
ABB ABBN.S as the risk-reward looks balanced given recent
stock price performance
** ABB is likely to lag peers on growth/margins, the
brokerage says, while Siemens' end market recovery is marred by
a number of below-the-line items
