BUZZ-MS picks 51 stocks to benefit from EU's climate policies

Thu 15th July, 2021 2:53pm
** Morgan Stanley says it has identified 51 companies, which
are set to benefit from European Union's climate policy
proposals to meet emission goals
** The EU announced its "Fit for 55" package on Tuesday,
aimed at reducing net EU emissions by 55% by 2030, from 1990
levels, and eliminate them by 2050*:nL1N2OQ122
** MS says carbon pricing is central to the package, with
emission trading system (ETS) revisions seen as positive for
longer-term carbon prices
** It adds that longer-term, decarbonisation leaders could
benefit from greater access to capital and a potential lower
relative costs base
** MS flags Norsk Hydro NHY.OL , as the carbon border
adjustment mechanism (CBAM) is more manageable for aluminium due
to the likely continuation of the generous EU compensation
mechanism for indirect carbon costs and gradual tapering of free
allowances for direct emission
** It also sees LafargeHolcim and HeidelbergCement HEIG.DE
as benefiting from the CBAM in cement, Johnson Matthey JMAT.L
and Croda CRDA.L in chemicals, and SSAB SSABa.ST and
ArcelorMittal MT.AS in steel
** It highlights Neste NESTE.HE , which will benefit from
the introduction of the EU aviation blending mandate
    ** Orsted ORSTED.CO , Iberdrola IBE.MC and RWE RWEG.DE
will benefit from the increased target for renewable penetration
and in green mobility, while Daimler from the higher EV
penetration in Europe DAIGn.DE , MS adds
