Turkey - Factors to Watch on Aug 19

ISTANBUL, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and
events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday.
    The lira  TRYTOM=D3  traded at 7.3805 against the U.S.
dollar at 0430 GMT, unchanged from Tuesday's close. 
    The main BIST 100 share index  .XU100  rose 0.58% to
1,092.46 on Tuesday.
    
    ERDOGAN
    President Tayyip Erdogan will attend an opening ceremony for
a solar technology factory in Ankara (1100 GMT).
    
    CORONAVIRUS
    Health Minister Fahrettin Koca will hold a news conference
after a meeting of the country's coronavirus science board (1600
GMT). Education Minister Ziya Selcuk will attend a ceremony
regarding school measures against coronavirus ahead of their
reopening (0800 GMT).
    The number of people who have died from COVID-19 in Turkey
rose by 20 on Tuesday to 6,016, Health Ministry data showed. The
overall number of cases rose by 1,263 to 251,805, the data
showed, with 232,913 recovered from the virus.
    
    VENEZUELA
    Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu visited Caracas on
Tuesday as his country delivered medical equipment to help
crisis-stricken Venezuela deal with the novel coronavirus

    CYPRUS
    Cyprus said on Tuesday it was willing to engage with all its
neighbours on defining maritime boundaries, amid a tense
stand-off with Turkey in the eastern Mediterranean over

    SYRIA
    A Russian major-general died and three other servicemen were
injured after a bomb exploded in the path of a Russian military
convoy near Deir al Zor in Syria, the RIA news agency cited the

    Separately, jets believed to be Russian bombed several towns
in rebel-held northwestern Syria in a new flare-up of violence
since a Turkish-Russian deal that halted major fighting nearly
