Czech banking market sees increase in expected credit losses -lending survey

Mon 13th July, 2020 9:12am
PRAGUE, July 13 (Reuters) - Nearly the entire Czech banking
market forecast an increase in expected credit losses in all
segments in the third quarter as the coronavirus pandemic takes
its toll on the economy, a Czech National Bank lending survey
showed on Monday.
The quarterly survey found banks tightened corporate lending
conditions in the second quarter and around a third expected
further tightening in the third quarter.
Overall, banks expected declining demand although a rise may
be seen in short-term loans.
On the housing market, the survey said credit standards also
tightened. A quarter of the market expected further tightening
and about half forecast demand for house purchase loans to
decrease, the survey said.
