Dec 3 (Reuters) - London copper rose on Thursday, as
investors were upbeat about positive developments in vaccines
against COVID-19, but gains were limited following a strong
rally in recent months.
    Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange  CMCU3 
advanced 0.2% to $7,690.50 a tonne by 0326 GMT. It was still shy
of $7,743 a tonne hit on Tuesday, the highest level since March
2013.
    The most-traded January copper contract on the Shanghai
Futures Exchange  SCFcv1  slipped 0.2% to 57,220 yuan
($8,725.49) a tonne.
    Britain approved Pfizer Inc's  PFE.N  COVID-19 vaccine on
Wednesday, making it the first country to do so, and said it
would start vaccinating those most at risk early next week.

    Copper is often used as a gauge of global economic health. A
vaccine roll-out could fasten a recovery in the world's economy.
    
    FUNDAMENTALS
    * ShFE aluminium  SAFcv1  fell 1.5% to 16,570 yuan a tonne,
having touched its highest since October 2011 in the previous
session. LME aluminium  CMAL3  edged up 0.2% to $2,060 a tonne.
    * LME zinc  CMZN3  rose 0.6% to $2,764.50 a tonne while ShFE
nickel  SNIcv1  fell 1.5% to 118,250 yuan a tonne and ShFE zinc
 SZNcv1  declined 1.3% to 20,990 yuan a tonne.

trade, thanks in part to a disappointing U.S. jobs report, while
