UPDATE 1-South Korea's MFG buys about 132,000 tonnes corn - trade

Thu 19th November, 2020 6:44am
(Adds details of expected origin, shipment periods)
HAMBURG, Nov 19 (Reuters) - South Korea's Major Feedmill
Group (MFG) purchased around 132,000 tonnes of corn, expected to
be sourced either from the United States or South America, in a
private deal on Wednesday without an international tender being
issued, European traders said on Thursday.
It was all purchased at an estimated $241.69 a tonne c&f
plus a surcharge of $1.25 a tonne for additional port unloading
for arrival in South Korea in May, 2021.
The seller was believed to be trading house ADM.
It was bought in two 66,000 tonne consignments.
If sourced from the U.S. Gulf, the shipment of the first
consignment will be between April 1 and April 20, and if sourced
from South America, it will be between March 27 and April 15,
for arrival in South Korea around May 25, 2021.
The shipment of the second consignment will be between April
5 and April 25, if sourced from the U.S. Gulf, and between April
1 and April 20, if sourced from South America, for arrival in
South Korea around May 30.
Chicago corn futures rose to their highest level in nearly
16 months on Wednesday on strong export demand and spillover
support from higher soybean futures. urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nL1N2I42K8
