BUZZ-Aussie miners eye best day in over 6 weeks on China's sustained iron ore demand

** Australian metals and mining subindex  .AXMM  gains as
much as 3.2%, marking its best day since Jan. 7, even as iron
ore prices slump 
    ** Dalian iron ore  DCIOcv1  dropped 0.3% on Friday,
declining for the first time in seven sessions  IRONORE/ 
    ** Sector heavyweights BHP Group  BHP.AX  and Rio Tinto
 RIO.AX  supported the mining index by delivering a dividend
landslide on the back of elevated bulk metals prices last week
    ** Global titan BHP climbs as much as 3.5% and Rio Tinto
soars as much as 3.8%
    ** Fortescue Metals Group  FMG.AX  gains as much as 4.5% to
post biggest intraday pct gain since Jan. 25
    ** Rare earths miner Lynas  LYC.AX  jumps as much as 9.1%,
benefiting from reports China could ban exports to U.S. of the
mélange of minerals known as rare earths, used in technology and
defence products
    ** Subindex had risen 4.5% this year as of last close vs
3.1% gain in benchmark  .AXJO
