Pretty much every portfolio I see on Stockopedia has the same pattern of performance over the last year - good during 2021 up to November and then fading after that (in relation to comparator indices). Almost everyone says “I’m 10% down over the last X months”. But then who is doing well? Somebody must be doing better than that. Who are you?
From my reading it seems that people akin to me, mostly smallcap, quality, no miners or utlilities etc are as described as high at the end of 21 and 10 - 15% down since.
Those that are doing well are more largecap, FTSE 100, miners, people that purposely positioned themselves in commodities etc. They seem to be flat or slightly up.
I do not have the time, temperament or ability to trade in and out and I'm happy to remain long in quality with sound balance sheets. I may be comfortable with it but that doesn't make it enjoyable.
And at least when I make investments with the small amount of free cash available to me they are at more attractive prices than I've seen for years.
