Not sure if this has been covered but an "edit" function would be superb so that posters can add to a post without having to make a completely new one.Particularly pertinent when there are several new stories hitting the wire in the space of 10-15mins.
But I think this is already there: if you look at the foot of one of your recent posts, the one above for instance, you should find that "Edit" is added to the list after "Report". "Edit" disappears after 2 hours. (This has now been edited twice).

There is an edit function - it just has a time element. It disappears after (2 hours? - cant remember M's answer re this the other day). Or indeed edit one's own post when beaten to the punch by Alano ;-) - correcting the time from 1 hour to 2.
The idea being to allow obvious errors to be corrected but then "sealing" the comment to ensure that what was posted remains the case - no editing with the benefit of hindsight.
That edit time limit doesnt apply to headers though - these are always editable by the creator and a full history of the edits are available for all to see. That allows the header on a long standing thread - say a country wide E&P programme - to be updated with new info as it evolves to keep the initial post informative and up to date whilst comments made carry on with the discussion of the latest items of interest. A very useful and sensible policy I feel.
And another thing....
what is the difference between "contributors" and "commenters"?
the cloud that shows top contributors omits a number of the top commenters - it is not clear to me what the difference is and why for example Emptyend and DJ preston are not included in the cloud when they are at the top of the league tables?
That was quick, in which case can I raise something else - another 'feature'? ;-)
Having landed on a large chart page, it would be helpful if, when putting a new ticker in the box and switching to the chart of a different company, the header would change to that of the new company (instead of sticking with the company of the first chart selected).

I've just stumbled across something I do not understand.
Aminex Wiki was flagged up on my activity list as havibng been edited 21 mins ago, but when I go there and click on the link to see how the latest edit has changed the material, I get:

How can I tell that this new edit is current when it is apparently dated almost five months ago?
Hi Chessfou, we'll do some testing but it sounds like there may be a glitch. Where you should have ended up is a page like this where you can see a history of the changes on that Wiki, like this.
You can then choose to compare two versions and that would take to a "diff" page like this one:
But it sounds like that didn't happen so we'll investigate and fix.

On threads which one has previously opened, the number of new, i.e. unread messages, is presented in red.
On threads which one has not previously opened, the number of messages (which is also the number of unread messages) is presented in blue. Would it be possible to also give an unread message count, in red, on these threads?
In that way, it will be much easier to identify those threads which may be of interest but which one has not yet ventured onto.

There appears to be a bug when trading one's fantasy portfolio. I seem to be unable since around last Thursday to make any Buy trades. Trades do not go through and subsequently disappear from the "orders" list. I've currently got about £360K cash [wish it was real!!!] there and the shares I've been wanting to buy keep going up!!

Hi p3dr036, thanks for letting us know - we're working on it. We made a lot of changes last week under the hood for speed etc and that seems to have broken it. We'll get it fixed asap!

Is there a problem with the fantasy funds? No trades seem to have gone through in the last week?

Oh no it isn't! (Fixed, that is!)
I would really appreciate if the fund problems were fixed. Three reasons:
1. I'm using it to compare (roughly) how a slightly different approach compares with my real performance,( i.e with similar stock selection, but without the Canuck & Aussie stuff and building a cash buffer through top slicing rather than using short index options as an "insurance"). It's not a precise comparison, but given current volatility, if the fantasy fund is out of action for much longer, it will become a bit meaningless.
2. I find it most interesting to look at other people's funds, both with regard to what they have and also how they trade.
3. (Or 2b, perhaps). A look at someone's fund can give some clues as to a poster's competence.

There is also a bug on the graph part of the funds page.
ie Clicking on the last data point of the graph brings up November 8th rather than October 8th.
