SECURITY
A top Polish security official on Wednesday said he could
not rule out that the Dec. 29 breach of Poland's airspace by
what Warsaw says was a Russian missile was a provocation.
In 2024 Poland will hold elections twice what might foster
massive attacks on poorly secured local government institutions
and acts of disinformation, Rzecpospolita daily reported quoting
experts.
ARMS
Polish arms companies will supply the army with 300,000
pieces of 155-millimeter ammunition worth 11 billion zlotys
($2.76 billion), Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
BIRTH RATE
The 800 plus child benefit program is expected to cost 67
billion zlotys a year. Before the increase from 500 zlotys, the
program did not produce the results expected, and the fertility
rate dropped to the level it was at before the program was
introduced, Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
NUCLEAR ENERGY
Poland's first nuclear power plant will be built despite
fears that the new government will suspend preparations for its
construction on the Baltic coast, which is scheduled to start in
2026, Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
BANKRUPTCIES
Lasy year 408 entrepreneurs were declared bankrupt by courts
- 13.3% more than a year earlier, Puls Biznesu daily reported.
