Banco BPM won't attend Monte Paschi shareholders' meeting on Wednesday
Banco BPM won't attend Monte Paschi shareholders' meeting on Wednesday ROME, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Banco BPM BAMI.MI will not take part in Banca Monte dei Paschi's BMPS.MI shareholder meeting on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Milan-based lender said on Tuesday after a board meeting.
The board "acknowledged the legal constraints arising from its position as a shareholder in MPS and the related conflict of interest, and therefore deemed it appropriate not to participate," the spokesperson said.
Banco BPM holds a 3.7% stake in MPS, but it is also the target of one of the two takeover proposals that are due to be voted on by MPS shareholders.
