LONDON, Nov 10 (Reuters) - The European Energy Exchange
(EEX) said it has been re-appointed by the European Commission
as the common auction platform for EU emission permits for up to
five years, following a tender process.
Under the EU's Emissions Trading System, industrial
companies and utilities have to buy an increasing number of
permits to comply with the scheme via auctions.
EEX has held auctions on behalf of participating member
states since 2012.
The last auction under the current contract is scheduled for
Dec. 14. Auctions under the new contract will start in 2021 and
information on the auction calendar for next year will come in
due course, the exchange said.
