Video Transcript:
Looking ahead – beauty products and a toymaker, both expected to post
quarterly results. But first, we hear from the Federal Reserve again this
week. San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly speaks. She will take part in a
moderated conversation at the Bay Area Council Economic Institute Annual
Conference. Daly, who is a high school dropout, succeeded San Francisco Fed
President John Williams last October. And last month, the Washington Post
reported that Daly was leading to pausing interest rates for a while though
she sees "nothing in the data to suggest an imminent recession".
Next up, Coty is predicted to post a fall in quarterly revenue when it reports
before the market open. The make-up company – with household names like
Wella, Max Factor, and Clairol – replaced its Chairman and CEO back in
November of last year. Now, this shuffle makes its new CEO the fourth in as
many years. The management shake-up comes as Coty struggles to integrate the
41 beauty brands it acquired from Procter & Gamble back in 2016. Coty's shares
got a boost this week after rival Estee Lauder posted better-than-expected
results. The stock though is down 60% over the past year. It's certainly a
better year-to-date at 9%.
And finally, do not pass Go and don't collect $200. Hasbro reports before the
opening bell. The toymaker is also expected to post a decline in revenue. The
maker of board game Monopoly and the popular Transformers suffered losses in
2018 when its long-term customer Toys 'R' Us went bankrupt. Hasbro's shares
are down 11% over the past year. At least three brokers have cut their price
targets on that stock since the start of the year. I'm Leah Duncan, and this
