CAPITAL - Bulgaria's financial regulator has declined to
approve the public offering prospect of First Investment Bank
5F4.BB . The lender planned to raise up to 200 million levs
($110 million) to prop up its capital following ECB's health
checks last year. A successful capital increase is one of the
conditions for Bulgaria's entry into the EU's Banking Union and
euro zone's "waiting room".

-- Bulgarian prosecutors are checking the privatisation of
large state assets that started after the collapse of the
Communist rule in 1989. Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev said the
process had been criminal and unfair and his administration will
see if there would be grounds for probes against any wrongdoers.
