TOKYO, Dec 20 (Reuters) - Kansai Electric Power Co Inc
9503.T has restarted the No.3 reactor at its Ohi nuclear power
station in western Japan after maintenance and refuelling, a
spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The utility rebooted the 1,180 megawatt (MW) reactor on Dec.
16, after shutting it down in August for scheduled maintenance,
including upgrades required under stricter anti-terrorism rules
adopted after the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster.
Kyushu Electric Power 9508.T has also restarted the No.3
reactor at its Genkai nuclear power station in southwestern
Japan after scheduled maintenance and refuelling, a spokesperson
said on Tuesday.
The utility rebooted the 1,180-MW reactor on Dec. 10, after
suspending it in January for maintenance, including
anti-terrorism upgrades.
With the restarts, Japan has nine operating reactors with a
capacity of 8,776 MW.
Many of Japan's reactors are still going through a
relicensing process under safety standards imposed after the
Fukushima disaster.
Nine regional power utilities and a wholesaler Japan Atomic
Power Co (Japco) now have 33 reactors available for commercial
use, with combined capacity of 33,083 MW.
The companies had 54 reactors operating before the Fukushima
disaster.
The table below shows the status of Japan's nuclear power
plants.
The regional utilities are: Chubu Electric Power 9502.T ,
Chugoku Electric Power 9504.T , Hokkaido Electric Power
