May 19 (Reuters) - Investment company Stoneweg Group has hired Carlos Garcia-Peredo from ING INGA.AS to join Stoneweg as its new head of credit solutions, said the company on Tuesday.
Garcia-Peredo was ING's Head of Credit for Spain and Portugal, managing a portfolio worth more than 8 billion euros ($9.3 billion) spanning real estate, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, asset-based leveraged and corporate credit, said Stoneweg.
"Carlos’ immediate focus will be on scaling Stoneweg’s private credit offering, targeting up to 500 million euros of deployment in the next 12 months. The new initiative is a direct response to borrower and investor demand, with the fast-growing, European mid-market private credit sector continuing to be underserved as more traditional finance providers remain capital constrained," said Stoneweg in a statement.
The private credit market has been hit by market uncertainty in recent months.
Nevertheless, many firms still see solid growth prospects in this sector.
Earlier this month, U.S. banking giant Citigroup and BlackRock's HPS Investment Partners announced a partnership on a 15-billion-euro private credit programme to expand direct lending across the EMEA region.
Stoneweg is part of SWI Group SWICH.AS.
