TOKYO, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Kyushu Electric Power
9508.T has restarted the No.1 reactor at its Sendai nuclear
power station in southwestern Japan after maintenance, a company
spokesperson said on Thursday.
The 890-megawatt (MW) No.1 reactor was brought back online
on Aug. 27 after being shut down on June 14, the spokesperson
said, adding the 890-MW No.2 reactor at Sendai will be shut down
later this week for scheduled maintenance.
Meanwhile, Kansai Electric Power 9503.T restarted the
826-MW No.1 reactor at its Takahama nuclear power station in
western Japan on Aug. 26, following a planned turnaround that
began on June 2, a company spokesperson said.
Shikoku Electric Power 9507.T shut the 890-MW No.3 reactor
at its Ikata nuclear power station in western Japan on July 19
for scheduled maintenance, with plans to restart it in late
September, according to a company spokesperson.
Following the changes, Japan has 11 operating reactors with
a total capacity of 10,718 MW.
Many companies are still going through a relicensing process
to comply with stricter safety standards imposed after the 2011
Fukushima disaster. The companies had 54 operational reactors
before it.
