** U.S.-listed shares of Lithium Americas LAC.N rise as high as $6.10 post-market, nearly double their $3.07 close on Tues, as Trump administration seeks up to 10% equity stake

** Stake sought amid renegotiation of terms of the Canada-based co's $2.26 bln Energy Department loan for its Thacker Pass lithium project with General Motors GM.N, two people familiar with the discussion told Reuters

** LAC shares last up 70% after the bell at $5.22, highest since Apr 2024

** During regular session on Tues, LAC shares closed down 7%, giving co roughly $750 mln market cap

** Through Tues, shares have gained 14.6% this quarter, putting them up about 3.4% YTD
