National Bank of Greece raises 2026 targets after strong loan growth
National Bank of Greece raises 2026 targets after strong loan growth July 30 (Reuters) - National Bank of Greece (NBG) reported on Thursday net profit of €661 million ($760.22 million) for the first half of 2026 and raised its full-year earnings guidance, as strong loan growth and a more favourable interest-rate environment supported revenue.
The Athens-listed bank said earnings per share rose 3% on the year to €1.45 in the six months through June, while return on tangible equity (RoTE) reached 15.5%, both figures excluding non-recurring items.
The bank upgraded its 2026 RoTE target to above 15% from around 15% previously and also expects earnings per share of above €1.4 in 2026, versus previous guidance of around €1.4.
Net interest income grew 1.5% year-on-year to €1.1 billion.
First-half loan disbursements climbed 30% from a year earlier.
Performing loans increased €2.1 billion since the start of the year to €39.1 billion, driven by corporate lending demand, particularly in energy, infrastructure and shipping projects, alongside growth in retail lending.
The non-performing loan ratio stood at 2.4%.
Deposits increased 6% year-on-year.
