Ukraine's SBU security service says three warships struck in attack on Russia's Novorossiysk port
Ukraine's SBU security service says three warships struck in attack on Russia's Novorossiysk port Aug 12 (Reuters) - Ukraine's SBU security service said on Wednesday that Ukrainian forces had struck three warships and other facilities in a drone and missile attack on the Russian Black Sea naval base of Novorossiysk.
An SBU statement on Telegram said two of the vessels, the frigates Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov, carried Kalibr missiles. The third was a patrol vessel.
"The strike on this base has strategic significance," the statement said. "The SBU is systematically reducing Russia's ability to control the Black Sea and to use its naval forces to wage war on Ukraine."
