Earnings Poll: Polish utility PGE seen swinging to 1.78 bln zloty Q2 profit from year-ago loss
EARNINGS POLL-Polish utility PGE seen swinging to 1.78 bln zloty Q2 profit from year-ago loss Aug 14 (Reuters) - Poland's PGE PGE.WA is expected to report a second-quarter net profit of 1.78 billion zlotys ($478 million), a Reuters poll showed on Friday, helped by coal-fired generation and gas segments after a 9.61 billion zloty loss a year ago.
The year-ago loss stemmed from non-cash write-downs that cut PGE's net result by about 11.6 billion zlotys.
Reported core profit is seen at 3.57 billion zlotys, up about 7% year-on-year, mainly driven by higher coal-fired output, cheaper coal and a gain on hedged gas purchases.
